this evening, amber dropped by my house. there's been kind of a weird smell in my house for the past couple days and I've been using every odor absorbing trick I know to try to get rid of it and it wasn't going away. so amber came over and mentioned the odd smell. sawdust. she asked where my mouse trap was but I told her it couldn't be a dead mouse because I just saw the creepy thing this morning. she checked the trap anyway and the mouse was caught! so we threw the trap away and the relief I felt was amazing.

I haven't had hot water for the past few days. I've been going over to amber's house to shower. It's miserable. so today I finally got myself a long lighter and called my handy friend dave. he explained to me how to light my pilot light.. while making me read along on the water heater (haha! I'm so retarded). while I was holding the red button down, out drops a mouse and runs into a little hole under my bathroom sink. RAD. it was the same one I saw slinking through my house this morning. It looks like a mutant. it kind of looks like an evil shadow of a mouse that you'd see in a cartoon or something. I think the smell that's been stinking up my apartment actually HAS been a dead mouse and now there's just a NEW one.

speaking of the devil.. it just ran across my living room. I HATE THIS.

on a lighter note, last night we had our salon christmas party. it was fun but I was really tired and had to work early this morning, so I only stayed a little while then came home and went to bed.

this was from saturday night at amber's salon's christmas party.

I'm going to bed, I'm freaked out about the mutant mouse running through my house.

this is my painting in the works haha. I paint like a 5 year old. but it's so fun.

about a week before Thanksgiving, I was driving home from work and as I pulled up to my apartment, this song came on KCPR. It caught my attention, so I turned the engine off and listened. As soon as the song was over, I went inside and found the band online. Throughout the week, I kept going back to their page, listening to their music. Over Thanksgiving weekend, Abram and Jake were staying at my house and Abram went out to the car to get some of his cds. There was a pile on the coffee table and the top cd was The National- Boxer. Just the band I had been obsessing over for about a week before they arrived. If the video doesn't do it for you, try closing your eyes or turning your back while you listen. it's prettier that way, anyway.

I think I'm going to update this more often

this morning, I didn't have the drive to rise with the sun for the swap meet. but it felt SO good to sleep as late as I wanted. I tried to find a picture to go in my kitchen above the shelves just outside my bedroom. no luck. so I went to Louisa's for my omelet. delicious.

today I bought incense. I've been out for awhile. I bought the classic nag champa, cannabis (I walked into the salon after I bought it and gave the the girls my pearls of wisdom: "burn cannabis, don't smoke it."), jasmine, and attracts money. I purchased the last purely for the karma. we'll keep you posted on the results.

I just got home from a date with Jason (maui). we went and saw Twighlight. vampires aren't really my thing. but fun night. good company. and good conversation. love that. and he's not so bad to look at, either. perk.

weekend stories

last weekend I met this really cool guy (yes!) who's only in town for 30 days from maui (no!). as he's going around seeing all his friends here, I realized that when I came to visit from seattle, I spent all my time with Josh.

Josh was my best friend that I used to work with at CCS. We've always kept in contact throughout the years, but we haven't been as close as we were in the past. He recently spent a few months in Costa Rica and we wrote emails back and forth while he was gone. Now he's living in San Diego. Watching Jason see his friends while he's in town made me miss Josh. So I called him and he was driving to San Luis from San Diego. It was his birthday yesterday! It's felt so good to see my old friend. His girlfriend told me that even though we don't see each other very often anymore, he still considers me his best friend. my point: Thursday, I got to hang out with Josh and I loved it. It was like we never spent any time apart.

I saw the mouse (ended up not being a rat). I was doing dishes the other day and it ran from my counter, across my stove, into the little nook under the burner. I dropped the soapy glass and screamed the entire time it ran. it's getting more brave and I felt like an elephant. so I went to rite aid yesterday after work for some "home improvement" items. I bought a no view, no touch mouse trap. It came in a pack of 2. I set them up, but the mouse still hasn't taken the bait. I wait.

last night I went to bed early and woke up late. I went down to Pismo and had my arm tattoo finished... well, I think it's finished. It was fun  hanging out with my tattoo artist, Marc. He's moving to seattle in a few weeks with his wife and son. my arm hurts.

after my tattoo, I met up with Amber and went to Michaels to buy some more acrylic paints. I picked up painting again the other day. It's so therapeutic. I completely forget/stop caring about the outside world. I think I'm becoming more reclusive. I think it's good. Anyway, amber and I decided to go to Target after Michaels (that is not doing what I can for the economy by buying locally). I bought sweats for $6.49; they are so soft and warm. I needed sweats for winter. I used to own so many pajamas bottoms and now I'm down to 1 pair (well, now 2) and they were knee length. they weren't cutting it.

I caught the cleaning bug after my trip to Target. I cleaned things that should NOT have gone so long without cleaning. My toilet started leaking obscenely, spewing water all over the floor. I jiggled the handle a few time until it stopped, but called my trusty (and handy!) friend Dave. He's coming over tomorrow to fix it. I then received a call from my temporary hawaiian love interest to top off the evening and now I'm watching You've Got Mail on tv, about to go to sleep. tomorrow, my big plan is going to the swap meet (hopefully I can muster up the drive to get up with the sun) then off to breakfast at Louisa's for my weekend tradition of sausage and avocado omelet with french fries.

it's been a great weekend.
